Discover how easily you can explore Athens, Piraeus, the airport and the Attica coastline from Ivélia, just steps from Victoria station.
From Victoria to Everywhere: Exploring Athens from Ivélia
Staying at Ivélia means having Athens within easy reach. Step outside, and Victoria station is only moments away. Walk a little further, and some of the city’s most fascinating neighbourhoods begin to unfold around you.
Whether you are heading towards ancient landmarks, the port of Piraeus or even the Athenian coastline, Victoria is an exceptionally convenient starting point.
Athens, One Metro Ride Away
Victoria is served by Metro Line 1, connecting Kifissia in the north with Piraeus in the south.
From Victoria, Omonia is approximately two minutes away, Monastiraki around four, and Thissio about six. This gives you quick access to the historic centre, the Acropolis area, Plaka, the Ancient Agora and the city’s lively markets.
Travelling in the opposite direction takes you towards neighbourhoods such as Ano Patissia, Nea Ionia, Maroussi and Kifissia.
For the port of Piraeus, simply remain on Line 1—no change is required.
A City Best Discovered on Foot
Some of the most rewarding journeys begin without boarding anything at all.
The National Archaeological Museum and Pedion tou Areos are within a short walk of Ivélia. Continue through the surrounding streets to discover Exarchia, with its independent bookshops, cafés and creative character, or walk towards Kolonaki and the elegant institutions around Vasilissis Sofias Avenue.
Patission Avenue is also served by numerous buses and trolleybuses, making short trips through central Athens simple and flexible.
Arriving from the Airport
From Athens International Airport, take Metro Line 3 and change at Monastiraki for Line 1 towards Kifissia. Victoria is only two stops away.
Alternatively, airport express buses operate around the clock to several central locations. A taxi or private transfer may be more comfortable for guests arriving late, travelling with children or carrying several suitcases.
From the City to the Athenian Coast
One of the neighbourhood’s lesser-known advantages is its proximity to the KTEL Attikis departure point near Pedion tou Areos and Egypt Square.
Regional buses connect Athens with destinations across Attica. Depending on the current timetable, routes may take travellers towards coastal areas, beaches and Cape Sounion, passing along the Athenian Riviera towards the Temple of Poseidon.
It is an affordable way to leave the city behind for a swim, a seaside lunch or a memorable sunset—without needing to rent a car.
A Simple Ticket Tip
Athens’s standard 90-minute ticket covers travel on the metro, buses, trolleybuses and tram within the urban network. Contactless payment is also available for full-fare travel using a bank card, smartphone or smartwatch.
Airport journeys require a separate airport ticket. Prices and schedules may change, so we always recommend checking the official transport websites before travelling.
At the Centre of It All
Growing up in this neighbourhood, I always felt that the rest of Athens was never far away. Victoria was—and still is—a place from which the whole city seems to open.
At Ivélia, that freedom begins just outside your door.
